Husk

The giant. A vast store of kinetic energy. He has the power to alter the physical nature of any living organism. Those who meet his gaze are changed forever.

Originally set as a warning to poachers Husk stood quietly on the hillside for many uneventful years. Until one night.

They came without warning. Wild creatures fled in terror and the grass flattened itself against the earth. Further down the hill the branches of Oak and Elm splintered and crashed to the ground.

Without fear, Husk watched as the figures approached. At the very tip of his shadow they stopped and slowly raised their heads. Three pairs of large unblinking eyes met his gaze and in that instant his world changed.

Husk suddenly knew how all things were made, what kept them whole and what rent them asunder. What bound them in form and what moved in them. He saw that all things were one and it was simple and beautiful.

Just before dawn Husk found himself looking into an empty field. They had gone.
